Singapore Pastel Art Exhibition: Impression and Expression
Pastel has had a long history. Leonardo da Vinci first pioneered the use of chalk for his drawings which led to the foundation of the pastel form. Pastel art had its heyday during the 18th century and was immensely popular among artists for portraits. Today, pastel is not only used for portraits, but also landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, floral subjects and wildlife as well as abstract art.
To support this exhibition, National Library Board is proud to publish Pastel Art in Singapore to showcase our local pastel artists.
*Exhibition ends at 4pm on 4 December 2011.
