Do you believe that strange professions exist in Singapore? Are you curious to find out how the famous Number 1 Costume shop started & peek into the daily routine of a professional funeral embalmer? What made sociology graduate chose a path off the beaten track to be the driving force behind Singapore’s pioneer frog farm?

If you’ve been wondering what are the strange things that people in Singapore do for a living and is interested to find out more about the man behind the scene who breeds the frogs that are appreciated in certain delicacies or the tailor who puts together textiles to create costumes for local productions, join us in this session to meet with the people who have unique passions or work in unique industries in Singapore.

Chelsea Wan is the second-generation farmer of Jurong Frog Farm, which remains to be the only frog farm in Singapore to date. The farm was listed in the 2007 Singapore Guinness book of Records as the pioneer frog farm. She is responsible in expanding their consumer base, employing innovative production techniques in frog breeding & organizing education farm tours.

Alikhan Suratte is the founder & one of the directors of Number 1 Costume Costume Private Limited, which provides the biggest costumes showroom in Singapore. Having graduated at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in fashion design, Alikhan started his own costume shop with a capital of S$50 and pursued his passion to create Singapore’s biggest costume shop.

Bony Sim is a certified embalmer who holds a diploma in Mortuary Science from the U.S. Mortuary school in Arizona. He has been in the profession for over 5 years and is currently pursuing a degree in the same line.
