In early Singapore, the Municipal Councilors or Commissioners were in charge of street naming. Streets were named in several ways, the most common being after people or places, such as Alkaff Avenue and Eu Tong Sen Street . Behind each street name there is a story - about how the street got its name and the person it was named after. This exhibition will explain the reason for the name behind each street, touching on the lives and achievements of the people who had played a vital part in making Singapore what it is today. The exhibition will also give some perspectives from the Koh Seow Chuan collections.
